On 01 May 2017, at 07:30 am, the National Election Committee (NEC) conducted a training session to PECs, representatives of political parties, and non-governmental organizations about Election, Ballot Counting, and Election Result Consolidation for the 4th Mandate of Commune/Sangkat Council Election 2017, at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Interior, Building “S”, under the presidency of NEC General Secretary, H.E Mr. Tep Nytha.
H.E Mr. Tep Nytha, NEC General Secretary, expressed that this is the last phase of training which has been dissected into four levels starting from now at the NEC’s National level and continue to PECs level, then to District/Khan and Commune/Sangkat level; and that the training shall finish one day prior to election day. This is a very important stage that may determine success or failure of election process. His Excellency reiterated that the completion of voter registration, candidate lists registration and election campaign were just the mere result by each phase only. However, the continued success in the election phase like ballot counting and election result consolidation would indicate the accomplishment of the whole election process. His Excellency also emphasized on some core tasks to carry on as follow:
- The monitoring of election campaign
- The provision of education about election to voters and the public
-The recruitment of members of Polling Station Commissions / Ballot Counting Commissions
- The training of electoral officers
- The election management, ballot counting, election result consolidation, and election result proclamation
- In particular, the security and safety protection during election campaign, polling, ballot counting and election result consolidation.
It is reminded that the training session was attended by 150 trainees and lasted for 03 days from 01 to 03 May 2017.
