On the morning of 18th August 2026, the National Election Committee (NEC) organized the opening ceremony of a training course for the NEC master trainers and officials on “Voter Lists Revision and Voter Registration 2026” at the NEC headquarters, under the presidency of His Excellency Sum Bunhong, Director-General of the General Department of Education, Information and Public Relations.
Speaking on the occasion, His Excellency Sum Bunhong stated that, in order to ensure that the process of the voter lists revision and voter registration 2026 was carried out smoothly and on time in accordance with the laws, regulations, procedures, and standards in force, the NEC needs to provide trainings to election officials at all levels and relevant stakeholders, including at the NEC level, the Capital/Provincial levels, and the Municipal/District/Khan levels. Apart from these training courses, the NEC also regularly organized dissemination meetings with relevant stakeholders, conducts voter education, information dissemination, and awareness-raising activities for voters, the public, and relevant stakeholders and maintain communication with international and national stakeholders aimed to strengthen and expand good cooperation, exchange experiences, and contribute to making the electoral process increasingly transparent and broadly recognized by all relevant stakeholders at both the national and international levels.
His Excellency Sum Bunhong emphasized that the voter lists revision and voter registration 2026 is a mandatory task of the NEC ahead of the Election of Commune/Sangkat Councils in 2027, in the 6th Mandate, by ensuring that Cambodian citizens who are over 18 years old until the Election of Commune/Sangkat Councils in 2027 (those born before or on 7th June, 2009) and those who have never been registered to vote, are invited to vote. Voters whose names are included on the official 2025 voter lists are invited to correct their biographical data such as changing their polling station within the Communes/Sangkat, correcting their name, gender, date of birth, or changing documents serving for their voter registration, and updating their biometric data (taking a photo and fingerprinting) for eligible voters who have been registered to vote in 2016 and 2017 with the voter registration team (VRT).
Through this training course, His Excellency Sum Bunhong also instructed the trainees, especially the NEC master trainers to pay close attention to both theoretical and technical aspects of the training, as well as all trainers to pay attention to teaching according to the specified program with a high spirit of responsibility, in accordance with the pedagogical norms coupled with the methodologies and previous experiences encountered and passed through in the voter registration process.
It’s worth informing that the voter lists revision and voter registration along with the validation of the 2026 voter lists shall be conducted from 7th October 2026 to 12th February 2027 including voter lists revision and voter registration in Communes/Sangkat across the country within the period of 55 days from 7th October to 30th November 2026.
